In an effort to address floodwater species mosquitoes concentrated in the Lydia area, the Iberia Parish Mosquito Abatement District will conduct aerial operations on Wednesday evening.

Mayor Hilda Curry says while the aerial mosquito spraying will concentrate in the Lydia area, the operations will include Bayou Jack, Patoutville, Weeks Canal and Deslatte. It'll all begin thirty minutes before sunset and last about two and a half hours.

Officials advise you not to stare or attempt to follow the path of the low flying aircraft if it's overhead. It wil be out of the area in a brief period.

Also, unless you are hypersensitive or wish to avoid all exposure to chemicals in the designated spray area, officials say you can proceed with normal outdoor activities.
