Kathy Richard, Healthcare Initiative Director for the Louisiana Cultural Economy Foundation joined 'Mornings With Ken & Bernie' today to discuss efforts being made on behalf of cultural workers in Acadiana.  According to Richard workers in the cultural industry including musicians, artists, theatrical workers, performing artists, culinary workers and writers often have no access to health insurance.

Richard stressed that,

"The cultural industry is the second largest industry employer in the state of Louisiana after healthcare.  It is a huge number of people who are self-employed that make Louisiana special but don't have health insurance."

Healthcare based on income and ability to pay is available at various clinics throughout South Louisiana and cultural workers can get more information at www.culturaleconomy.org.
