We heard of a 911 issue in Canada concerning "Boxing Day" which is celebrated throughout the United Kingdom so we asked Aileen Bennett to enlighten us.  Today Bennett joined us on 'Mornings With Ken and Bernie' and explained the origins and traditions of "Boxing Day".  Bennett said,

There are differing opinions on the origins of Boxing Day.  Some people say Boxing Day is the day after Christmas when churches would empty their poor boxes to give to the needy.  Other people say the holiday started with nobility giving their servants the day after Christmas off so they could celebrate with their families.
