For months now, the Lafayette Airport Commission has worked on the preliminary stages of building a new airport terminal.

Now, the funding is in place to begin construction, but contractors are needed to do the work.

Valerie Garrett with the Lafayette Airport Commission visited the KPEL studio to discuss an outreach program designed to aid Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (DBEs) in Acadiana with the means of signing on with the terminal's construction.

Garrett said this Wednesday and Saturday, the airport commission will be hosting outreach seminars for interested businessmen and women.

At the seminars officials will be accepting taking applications (found at the link below) for DBE certification.

The certifications are available fr any DBEs throughout the state. So. even if your business is not suited to working n the new terminal, you can receive certification for any other project in the state.
