Alabama Man Pleads Guilty In Lafayette To Transporting Child Porn

Today 49 year old Mario Duran of Jemison, Alabama pleaded guilty to one count of transporting child pornography. Evidence was presented at the guilty plea that Acadia Parish Sheriff's Deputies made contact with Duran in April 2014 in the Crowley Wal-Mart parking lot. In Duran's vehicle deputies discovered two teen age girls who claimed not to know Duran and that he had picked them up in Alabama and was taking them to Houston to meet their father. A search of Duran's vehicle turned up three cell phones with sexually explicit photos on one of them.

Duran faces 5 to 20 years in prison, five year to life supervised release and a $250,000 fine and registration as a sex offender.
