Alabama junior quarterback AJ McCarron

Quarterback AJ McCarron connected with T.J. Yeldon on a 28-yard touchdown pass with :51 remaining, to lift the top-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide to a 21-17 come-from-behind victory over the fifth-ranked LSU Tigers, on Saturday night, at Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

The win increased Alabama's win streak to 13 games, dating back to the 2011 season, and ended LSU 22-game home field win streak, which was the longest in the country.

The Tigers took a 3-0 lead at the 6:11 mark of the first quarter, courtesy of a 38-yard field goal by Drew Alleman, before the crimson Tide scored 14 unanswered points in the second quarter, on a 7-yard run by Eddie Lacy at the 8:17 mark, and a 9-yard run by McCarron right before the end of the half, at the :11 mark.

LSU scored the only points of the third quarter, when Jeremy Hill capped off a 13-play, 56 yard drive, with a 1-run run, cutting the Alabama lead to 14-10 at the 3:35 mark of the third quarter.

The Tigers later grabbed the lead at the 12:58 mark of the final quarter when quarterback Zach Mettenberger hit Jarvis Landry on a 14-yard pass, making it 17-14, LSU.

LSU looked as though they were going to put the game away late in the gamey, driving into Alabama territory and forcing the Crimson Tide to call their remaining timeouts. But the drive stalled, and after a missed field goal, Alabama took over, and so did McCarron.

The junior completed three straight passes, accounting for 44 yards, to get the football to the LSU 28-yard line.

After an incomplete pass, McCarron teamed up with Yeldon for the game winner with only :51 left.

LSU out-gained Alabama, in terms of total yardage, 435-331, and held possession of the football for 39:15 in the game.

Mettenberger played the best game of his career for the Tigers, completing 24-of-35 passes, for 298 yards, and a touchdown, while Hill rushed for 107 yards, and a touchdown, on 29 carries.

For Alabama, McCarron threw for 165 yards, including a touchdown, while Eddie Lacy and Yeldon combined for 159 yards on 22 carries.

With the win, Alabama improved to 9-0 overall, and 6-0 in SEC play, while LSU fell to 7-2 overall, and 3-2 in league play.
