51-year-old Percy Laviolette of Alexandria sits in the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center after allegedly hitting a vehicle with his pickup truck, then driving away.

Scott Police Chief Chad Leger says the incident happened on Valentine’s Day after 7 p.m. in the 4500 block of Cameron Street. The victim told officers he was about to turn left off of Cameron Street onto Pecan Grove Road when he was rear ended by Laviolette’s pickup, which then sped away. When officers found Laviolette down the street at the Wagon Wheel Bar and Grill, officers say Laviolette admitted to being involved in a crash. Officers say they noticed the smell of alcohol on Laviolette, who was still in his vehicle, and that he appeared to be impaired. Laviolette allegedly refused any field sobriety test or further cooperation and was arrested.

Laviolette faces charges of OWI Second Offense, Hit-and-run, Careless Operation with a Crash and Following too Close with a Crash.
