Alexandria Shoppers Injured In Nike Stampede

Several people  were  injured  and  a mall entrance partly destroyed early Friday in   Alexandria as shoppers  stampeded  trying  to get
their  hands on the new retro Nike Air Jordan sneakers.  Similar incidents happened across the country including a mall in Indianapolis.

The incident closed the mall for about three hours and was one of several  across the  country  as  frantic shoppers fought for the $180 shoes. Police say  six  people  were   injured   and  were  transferred  to  local hospitals  with  non-life threatening cuts and abrasions.
