The St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Highway Interdiction Team arrested three Alexandria men yesterday after discovering nearly $14,000 worth of drugs in their vehicle.

According to sheriff's spokesperson Maj. Eddie Thibodeaux reported deputies stopped a Buick Le Sabre with Mississippi plates while traveling on Interstate 49.

Thibodeaux investigators noticed a strong smell of burnt marijuana in the vehicle during the stop. Conducting a search of the vehicle with probable cause, deputies discovered a marijuana cigar and a total of 421 pills hidden throughout the vehicle.

All three suspects were booked into the St. Landry Parish Jail.

Deputies discovered one suspect, Charles Henry Bryant had 10 more pills on his person following a strip search.

“Our Highway Interdiction Team patrols St. Landry Parish highways to combat the flow of illegal drugs and to arrest criminals on our roadways.," said Sheriff Bobby Guidroz. Christopher T. Bryant, 24; Following too Close, No Driver’s License, Possession of Schedule I (Marijuana), Possession with Intent to Distribute Schedule II MetyhlenedioxyMethamphetamine) (4.8 Ounces or 421 Dosages), Possession with Intent to Distribute Legend Drug without a Prescription (Clindamycin Hydrochloride); BOND: $41,750.

Brandon Lemoine Ivory, 31; Possession of Schedule I (Marijuana), Possession with Intent to Distribute Schedule II MetyhlenedioxyMethamphetamine)(4.8 Ounces or 421 Dosages), Possession with Intent to Distribute Legend Drug without a Prescription (Clindamycin Hydrochloride); BOND: $41,000

Charles H. Bryant, 32; Possession of Schedule I (Marijuana), Possession with Intent to Distribute Schedule II, Possession with Intent to Distribute Legend Drug without a Prescription (Clindamycin Hydrochloride), Introduction of Contraband into a Penal Institution, MetyhlenedioxyMethamphetamine)(4.8 Ounces or 421 Doses); Bond: $46,000.
