The Lafayette Police Department reports today that they responded to a 911 call about a shooting that happened in the 200 block of High Meadows Boulevard.  Corporal Paul Mouton says when officers got to the scene they noticed evidence of some sort of disturbance in the apartment.

Mouton says that it was obvious that there was some sort of physical altercation that took place at that location.  According to the information given to KPEL from Lafayette Police, one of the suspects allegedly pulled out a handgun, and the victim started running away from the apartment.  Police report that the victim says while they were running, the suspect fired multiple shots in their direction.  Police say the victim was not hurt.

Police says their suspect in the shooting case, 25-year-old Deshawn Montgomery, was charged with attempted second degree murder, but that is not all that happened with Montgomery.

Corporal Paul Mouton says their investigators were able to obtain information linking Montgomery to an armed robbery that occurred at the Shell Convenience Store.  The business, located at 2444 West Congress Street, was robbed on May 7th.  Police have told KPEL Montgomery is alleged to have gone into the Shell station, pulled out a handgun and got away with an undisclosed amount of money.  Montgomery was charged with armed robbery, and Mouton says both cases remain under investigation.
