Homeowners may have to fork over more for home insurance if AllState gets its way.

The insurance company is asking the state for permission to raise its rates for some 144,000 home owners with policies under two different companies AllState uses in Louisiana.

The combined requests would amount to nearly $17 million in higher rates. One of the two companies would raise rates by an average of 11.3%.

If approved, the new rates would go into effect for new and renewed policies March first.
