Amendment 2 Could Do Some Good This Coming Election Period

Many different amendments will be considered on the next ballot, including Amendment 2, dealing with LASERS. The  Louisiana State Employee Retirement System handles the retirement costs of state workers and is behind on payments by billions of dollars. Executive director of LASERS, Cindy Rougeou,  says that the amendment provides for 5% of any surplus nonrecurring state revenues to be added to LASERS. This could pay off the backed payments and help with retirement for state workers.
