American Legion Recruiting Is On-Going

On 'Mornings With Ken and Bernie' today, Tom Thompson and Gerald Gaspard of American Legion Post 29 in Abbeville outlined activities and plans for the upcoming year.  Thompson said,

Post 29 was organized in 1919, the same year The American Legion was charted nationwide making the Abbeville post one of the oldest in the country.

In an effort to revitalize the organization, Post 29 is hosting a number of activities in coming months including an annual social where all local veterans, whether they are members or not, are invited.  In April Post 29 will recognize all local women veterans at another planned event.

Gaspard said,

The American Legion helps vets with healthcare issues and education benefits issues.  If  local veterans need help they can contact the American Legion for help and guidance.
