Update – Alleged Shooter Identified In Lafayette Drive-by Shooting
Update: 2:25 p.m. Tuesday, July 3 – A Lafayette man has been arrested in connection with the drive-by shooting. Corporal Paul Mouton with Lafayette Police says 18-year-old Kentrell James Morrison of Lafayette has been charged with 1st Degree Murder and Attempted 1st Degree Murder. Mouton says Morrison has been identified as the shooter.
The 23-year-old victim, not identified by police, has been released from the hospital and is recovering from his injuries at home. Police continue to investigate.

6:01 a.m. Monday, July 2 – The city of Lafayette Police Department has been very busy this weekend trying to track down the individuals responsible for another another drive-by shooting in the Hub City.
Lafayette Police investigators are looking for a murderer. At about 2:30 Sunday morning, Lafayette Police say a suspect in a Pontiac Bonneville drove into the parking lot of the Taco Bell on West Congress Street. The suspect shot two people in the parking lot, a 19-year-old and a 23-year-old, both men from New Iberia.
Both of the victims were taken to the hospital where the 23-year-old remains in stable but serious condition. The 19-year-old, though, died from his injuries. The suspect was last seen driving west on Congress Street. If you have any information, you’re asked to call Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS.
