The Vermilion/Municipal Narcotics Task force calls what they confiscated "legal weed".  After searching a store, agents say they found illegal products.

An officer that is part of the drug task force went into the Abbeville store to make a buy of the illegal substance.  After that happened, agents were able to obtain and use their search warrant at that address.

When agents went into the H&D Food mart on State St. in Abbeville, they seized several packs of illegal substances, and several packs of other substances that will possibly test positive for the illegal cannabinoids. Agents also seized over $3,000 dollars which they say is directly linked to the sale of the substances.

Police arrested 52-year-old Hau Duc Doan on charges of possession with the intent to distribute a schedule I narcotic, and possession of drug proceeds derived from sales. Vermilion Parish Sheriff Mike Couvillon, in a press release, says,

“I realize times are financially tough all over, but the Mayors and Chiefs of these cities are committed to finding the funds to help the Task Force combat the illicit drugs problem that ruins our communities. The people of Vermilion and our children are the benefactors of these city leaders’ great efforts. It is my hope that in the near future other towns and cities in the parish of Vermilion will be able to assist in the continuing fight against illicit drugs.”
