A second teacher's union has filed a lawsuit to challenge how Louisiana will fund its new statewide voucher program.

Louisiana Association of Educators President Joyce Haynes says it's against the state's constitution for Louisiana to take money away from the public school education fund and use it so students can attend a private school.

We truly know that...the Louisiana Constitution says that our Legislature will pay for and take care of the public education system, and we watch all of these laws and the Constitution just be violated.

Haynes says Jindal's voucher system will hurt public schools.

All of this is going against the Constitution, especially taking tax dollars and giving them to the private and parochial setting

Last week, the Louisiana Federation of Teachers filed a lawsuit challenging the way the program would be funded. Governor Jindal says that suit is an attempt by special interests to preserve a failing educational system.
