LSU sophomore guard Anthony Hickey

LSU sophomore guard Anthony Hickey hit two crucial buckets in the final :16 seconds on Saturday, to lift the LSU Tiger men's basketball team past the Mississippi St. Bulldogs, 69-68, in SEC play in Starkville, Mississippi.

Hickey hit a 15-foot jumper with :16 remaining to give LSU a 67-66 lead, before Mississippi St.'s Trivante Bloodman converted an acrobatic lay-up at the :08 mark, giving the Bulldogs the lead back, 68-67.

That's when Hickey retaliated with the game-winning jumper, giving the Tigers their first conference road win of the year.

Mississippi St. led at the half, 40-26, before LSU outscored the Bulldogs in the second half, 43-28.

The Bulldogs out-shot the Tigers from the field, 48%-40%, but LSU did put up nine more shots from the field.

Hickey led LSU in scoring, with 12 points, while Gavin Ware paced Mississippi St. in a losing cause, scoring 14 points.

With the win, the Tigers improved to 12-7 overall, and 3-5 in SEC play, while the Bulldogs fell to 7-13 overall, and 2-6 in league play.

LSU returns to action on Wednesday, when they host Vanderbilt.
