Anti-Bullying Theme At Northside This Week

Today and tomorrow the students at Northside High School will be getting a chance to hear from national anti-bullying expert Bernie Barras.

Barras, a National Board Certified Teacher with more than three decades of teaching and coaching created an anti-bullying education program while serving as a consultant to the state Department of Education. Her program is now used by schools across the country. Barras is also the coauthor of the book "School Violence: Build an Arsenal of Prevention".

The goal of the presentation will be to help teachers and students learn about how they can prevent violence and eliminate bullying in schools

Barras believes that everyone has something to contribute when it comes to fighting bullies.  The answer is to arm each student and teacher with the proper tools and understanding to achieve the goal of ending bullying.
