The name has been with Acadiana since 1921, but today they announced they are closing their doors.

Antlers Seafood & Steakhouse announced they are closing via their official Facebook page.

The local restaurant will be closing both their Broussard and Downtown Lafayette locations and is currently operated by the third-generation owner, Johnny Walters. The Broussard location was opened only a few years back, which almost times out with the beginning of the economic downturn related to the local oilfield industry.

Antlers originally opened in 1921 and according to their website their downtown Lafayette location was "the oldest bar in the city." The Daily Advertiser reports that in 1940 the bar was purchased by Joe Walters who then moved the bar across the street to its famous location at 555 Jefferson St.

We don't have an exact date on their final day of business, but we will update this story as more information becomes available.
