Armed Boyfriend Shot By Shreveport Police

SHREVEPORT, La. (AP) — One man is dead and a woman hospitalized after a shooting in west Shreveport that involved police officers.

Just after 9 p.m. Wednesday, police responded to a report of shots fired.

When officers arrived, Sgt. Bill Goodin says they found a woman in the front yard of a home, suffering from a gunshot wound.

Goodin says the gunman responsible for the shooting barricaded himself inside the home and was still armed.

He says officers entered the home and fired shots at the suspect, striking him at least once.

He says the suspect was pronounced dead at the scene.

The female victim was taken to LSU Hospital for treatment.

Goodin said police are unsure what prompted the shooting.

The names of the victim and the deceased suspect have not been release.
