The Iberia Parish Sheriff Louis Ackal says that four armed people went into the club, demanded money and then began firing their weapons.  Deputies say one victim was shot in the leg.

Witnesses described the four men as black males in dark clothing.  After the robbery, the suspects fled the area in an unknown directions.

A short time after the shooting, Iberia deputies were called to an area hospital about a person with a gunshot would to his hand.  Detectives learned that person had also been at the night club on South Hopkins Street during the crime and had also been shot during the robbery.

As part of the investigation, detectives with the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Unit processed a vehicle at the crime scene.  They found a green leafy substance they believed to be marijuana and a white substance consistent with “crack cocaine” inside of the vehicle

The car belonged to 17-year-old Bryson JohnLewis of New Iberia.  He was charged with:

  • Possession of schedule II with intent to distribute
  • Possession of Schedule I with intent to distribute
  • Possession of illegal narcotics in a school zone

JohnLewis was then booked into the Iberia Parish Jail.
