Update: 39-year-old Marcus Sam of Lafayette is accused of robbing the woman at gunpoint while she was trying to make a deposit. Sam has been charged with Attempted 1st Degree Murder and Felon in Possession of a Firearm for the incident which happened in the 3100 block of Louisiana Avenue.

Sam has been booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center. The case remains under investigation.

Just before 5 o'clock on Saturday, September 21, Lafayette Police responded to the 3100 block of Louisiana Avenue regarding an armed robbery.

The victim told police as she was driving into the deposit lane of a bank, her vehicle was struck from behind by a black Lincoln Continental truck.

The woman parked at a nearby parking lot, at which time she says the suspect approached her car, and he kept trying to break her driver’s side window.

After trying several times to break the windows on the car, the suspect fired a single shot from a handgun through the window.

He then reached into the car, and he stole a deposit bag containing an undisclosed amount of cash.  The suspect then fled the area in the black truck.

The suspect is described as a black male 5’10, 200 pounds wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with a bandana over his face.

Lafayette Police are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect and the vehicle he drove during the robbery.  Anyone with information about the incident is encouraged to call Lafayette Police or Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS.

The victim received minor injuries during the robbery.
