Late last night, Lafayette Police officers responded to a report of an armed robbery at the Wingstop at 2865 Ambassador Caffery.

Witnesses say a black male entered the building with a handgun and demanded the money in the register.  The suspect then drove away in a red Oldsmobile Alero with an undetermined amount of money.

Investigation led police to the 500 block of Strasbourg.  When they arrived they found a red Oldsmobile matching the description of the suspect vehicle parked near another car.  As officers approached the cars the drivers attempted to drive away and hit two parked police cars that were blocking them in. Then, one of the suspects allegedly began to drive toward them.  Officers fired at and hit the vehicle.

One suspect then attempted to escape on foot, but was stopped by a K-9 officer. He was transported to a local hospital to treat his bite wounds.  The other suspect was detained at the scene.

20-year old Brandon Booth was arrested on charges of armed robbery, resisting arrest, 2 counts of attempted first degree murder and aggravated criminal damage to property.  The person detained at the scene was found not to be involved in the armed robbery and was released.  Officers continue investigating the incident.
