A 23-year-old Jeanerette man has been arrested in connection with the disappearance and death of 75-year-old Howard Poche. Iberia Parish Sheriff Louis Ackal earlier reported the elderly man has been missing since Christmas day and a significant amount of blood was found in his home. Capt. Richard Fleming says through their investigation, detectives were able to arrest Jeffery Marks.

“With the information that they have been able to uncover, along with the evidence that they have amassed, they were able to affect the arrest of Mr. Marks for the charge of first degree murder.”

Marks was booked into the Iberia Parish Jail and no bond has been set. Fleming is not able to provide any other details and says their investigation is ongoing and so is the search for a body.

“The search is continuing for Mr. Poche.”
