A suspect believed to be responsible for a Friday night shooting in Opelousas has reportedly been arrested.

Joshua Goodley has been charged with second-degree murder.

The shooting happened on Planters Street near Hattisburg Strees, where investigators say they found the body of 32-year-old Eric Harrison of Opelousas lying on the road.

The shooting was evidently the result of an ongoing dispute between Goodley and Harrison. Goodley allegedly told Harrison he did not belong in the area, at which point Harrison allegedly reached for his waistband. That move prompted Goodley to pull out his gun and shoot Harrison several times.

Police have yet to find the alleged murder weapon, but investigators did find a gun in the victim's jacket pocket.
