Ascension Officials Push For Voter Approval Of Tax To Pay For Road Improvements
DONALDSONVILLE, La. (AP) — Ascension Parish officials say they expect voters to support a half-cent sales tax dedicated for roads.
The Advocate reports the proposal is on the Nov. 6 ballot.
Parish President Tommy Martinez and other officials met with local residents this past week, answering questions and making arguments for why voters should approve the tax.
The 25-year tax is expected to generate between $7 million and $9 million per year, funding about $150 million in road improvements with most of the focus on widening key intersections.
