KINSHASA, Congo (AP) — Congolese government officials say at least 15 people are dead following a stampede at a soccer stadium.

National television is reporting that the stampede happened during a playoff match between two popular Congolese teams.

Witnesses tell U.N.-backed Radio Okapi that police fired tear gas after angry fans threw things onto the field in the final minutes of the match.

It's not the first time fights have broken out during matches between the two soccer teams (V. Club and TP Mazembe). And Radio Okapi says sanctions were imposed on the teams after one match last year.
