VILLE PLATTE, La. (AP) — Police continue to investigate a robbery attempt that left the robber dead.

Ville Platte Police Chief Neal Lartigue says Malcolm Wilson entered the front door of a home with a gun about 1 a.m. Sunday, intending to rob the occupants.

A man in the house fought Wilson for his handgun and the gun went off multiple times. Lartigue says Wilson died at the scene, apparently from a chest wound.

A woman and four children were also present in the house.

Lartigue, who didn't release the names of the man and woman, says no one has yet been charged. Another woman was questioned in relation to the case, he says, but won't be charged.
