Attorneys To Review Lafayette Charter Changes
LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) — Within the next couple of weeks, attorneys are expected to begin reviewing drafts of two charters, one for the city of Lafayette and another for Lafayette Parish areas that fall outside the city limits.
The Advertiser reports the documents would provide for separate governing bodies for the city and unincorporated areas, but would keep public services consolidated, as they are now.
The City-Parish Council created the Lafayette Charter Commission last year to explore possible changes.
The commission has until April to develop its final recommendations and present them to the City-Parish Council.
