Audit Reveals Accused Thief Worked In Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office

Former Evangeline Parish Chief Civil Deputy Rebecca Devillier allegedly stole more than $100,000.00 from the sheriff's office. That accusation comes after an audit report was recently released by the Louisiana Legislative Auditor's Office.

The woman allegedly stole over $108,000.00 from the sheriff's office from August 2011 to September 2014, according to auditors in an article from our news partners at KATC. Devillier allegedly issued unauthorized checks to herself and was arrested for that charge, as well as for allegedly using the office credit card to charge $6,000.00 for unauthorized purchases. She was fired from the sheriff's office in September 2014.

The District Attorney for the 13th Judicial District of Louisiana is now handling the report.
