B.R. Man Convicted In Grandfather’s Death
BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — A 33-year-old Baton Rouge man has been convicted in the 2009 arson-related death of his grandfather.
Dustin Musso was convicted Friday of first-degree murder in by a Baton Rouge Parish jury. He was sentenced to life in prison without parole.
Prosecutors say 76-year-old Peter Musso Jr. died on May 5, 2009, at his home from trauma to his head and smoke inhalation. Prosecutors say Dustin Musso set fire to the house after the slaying.
Dustin Musso fled Baton Rouge on a Greyhound bus the morning of the murder and was taken into custody later that day at a bus station in Montgomery, Ala.
Prosecutors previously dropped its pursuit of the death in order to bring the case to trial more quickly.
