B.R. Mother Sentenced In Daughter’s Drowning Death

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — A Baton Rouge mother has been placed on probation for four years after pleading guilty to negligent homicide in the bathtub drowning of her 11-month-old daughter.

The Advocate reports state District Judge Louis R. Daniel on Friday sentenced 23-year-old LaShay R. Bradley to five years in jail but then suspended the sentence and placed her on probation. Daniel also fined her $500 and ordered her to remain employed throughout the probation and complete an approved parenting class.

In May 2012, Bradley told detectives she forgot she'd left Lailah in a bathtub with water running because she was talking to other people inside her home. When she returned, she found the baby floating face down in the tub. Lailah was pronounced dead at LSU's Earl K. Long Medical Center.
