Baker Employee Accused Of Embezzlement
BAKER, La. (AP) — East Baton Rouge Parish sheriff’s deputies have arrested a 54-year-old Baker woman accused of embezzling more than $42,000 from her employer between April 2010 and May 2012.
The arrest warrant says the owner of the business, Menard Electronics Inc., contacted deputies on July 30 to report that Brigette Salsbury, a bookkeeper for the company, had allegedly been stealing money.
Deputies say Salsbury had issued herself checks drawn from the business’ account totaling about $20,600.
Salsbury also paid herself more than $11,200 in fraudulent commissions and sent a fake email to Menard Electronics’ payroll company saying that she was receiving a pay raise. The fraudulent raise cost the company more than $10,000.
The Advocate reports Salsbury turned herself into authorities Wednesday.
It was unclear whether Salsbury has an attorney.
