BART Stops ‘simple approval’ practice

OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) — Bay Area Rapid Transit officials say that at least for the time being they won't tell workers they're responsible for their own safety while working on train tracks.

Under BART rules, one worker would be designated as a lookout to warn others of an oncoming train.

But two workers doing maintenance last weekend were struck and killed by a train.
