Baseball’s Player Rep Marvin Miller Dies at 95

He was adored by players, despised by owners and, to an extent, fans.

But there was no question.  Marvin Miller, although he never played the game, did more to alter the game than perhaps any individual.

It was Miller, as the head of the Major League Baseball Players' Association, who led the fight for free agency and made multimillionaires out of baseball players.

Miller has died at the age of 95.

Miller became the head of the association in 1966 and held the post for 18 years.

He was such an important figure that more than one player, including Nolan Ryan, mentioned him in their Hall of Fame speeches.
