The American soldiers of tomorrow may be fed based on research conducted in Baton Rouge.

Pennington Biomedical Research Center has won a $6-million Defense Department grant to study how nutrition can be used to increase performance of American battlefield troops. Project lead Professor Jennifer Rood says the study is called CROWN, for Collaborative Research to Optimimize Warfighter Nutrition.  The team will experiment with different nutritional effects on metabolism, memory, resilience and overall battlefield performance.
