BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — Authorities have arrested a man in the shooting and wounding of his pregnant wife.

The Advocate reports 26-year-old Frank Atkins was captured by members of the U.S. marshal's task force about 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.

U.S. Marshal Kevin Harrison said members of the task force found Atkins at an apartment complex. He says Atkins did not resist arrest.

Cpl. L'Jean McKneely said Atkins was booked on one count each of attempted second-degree murder, illegal use of a dangerous weapon and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

After being shot Tuesday afternoon, 23-year-old Kayla Atkins drove a few blocks and call authorities.

Police say Kayla Atkins, who is four months pregnant, was shot in the neck and is in stable condition.
