BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — A 49-year-old Baton Rouge man has been booked following a cold case investigation into a 2008 rape.

Cpl. L'Jean McKneely tells The Advocate (http://bit.ly/MGSxz3 ) Anthony Smith was booked Tuesday with second-degree kidnapping and forcible rape.

Smith was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison, where he was already being held on an unrelated charge.

McKneely says Smith's DNA linked him to the crime.

Although the police department has solved cold cases in the past, McKneely says Smith's arrest is the first associated with the department's newly formed Cold Case Division.

It could not be determined whether Smith had an attorney.
