Baton Rouge Man Pleads Guilty To Trying To Have Sex With Underage Girl From Lafayette

A man caught in an undercover sex operation pleads guilty to attempting to entice a minor to engage in sexual activity.

According to court documents, 59-year-old Allen Bobbett of Baton Rouge began chatting online with what he thought was a 14-year-old girl from Lafayette in January 4, 2011. He identified himself as being a 58-year-old man.

Police say as the chats continued Bobbett used a webcam to expose himself while masturbating. On January 5, 2011, police say he then developed a plan for the two to meet for sex, driving from Baton Rouge to Lafayette to do so.

Bobbett faces a minimum of no less than ten years in prison and no more than life in prison. Sentencing will be at a later date.
