BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — Baton Rouge police are searching for a man who hunted down a 13-year-old boy and shot him in the leg.

Cpl. L'Jean McKneely tells The Advocate the man drove around looking for the boy after the teen reportedly stole the man's cellphone from his car.

When asked if the man would be booked with a crime when found, McKneely said the matter is still under investigation. Police do not know the man's identity.

McKneely said the man's car was parked just after 9 a.m. Wednesday with one of the windows rolled down at a service station.

He says the boy reached into the car through the window and took the cellphone.

McKneely said the boy's leg wound is minor.
