IDBS, an Atlanta based company allegedly is sending out invoices for $599 for 'business listing optimization' for services to businesses that have never been contacted. The Better Business Bureau of Acadiana says the company has an 'F' rating due to at least 148 complaints from 39 states including Louisiana.

The company has responded to some complaints indicating the following:

Our files indicate that we spoke to (customer). We have a verbal recording of hi/her authorizing the invoice on (date). However it is our company policy total customer (sic) satisfaction therefore we closed the account and put the company on our do not call list.

The website address for the company, internet-data-soluitions.net is no longer active. Attempts to call the company were unsuccessful and it seems incorrect addresses were provided on invoices.

The BBB of Acadiana offers the following tips:

Designate only specific employees to make company purchases.

Train your staff to direct calls to only employees authorized to order supplies and services.

Check all documentation before you pay any bills.

Know your rights. If you receive invoices for supplies or services you did not authorize, don't pay.

Report any suspected fraud to the Better Business Bureau at bbb.org or call 337-981-3497. You may also contact the Federal Trade Commission, the Postal inspection Service and the Louisiana Attorney General's office.
