What's good for football is probably good for baseball, that seems to be the mindset with officials at LSU where beer and wine sales are concerned. Last football season fans at Tiger Stadium were introduced to The Chute, an area where beer and wine could be purchased and consumed during football games.

Now comes word that Alex Box Stadium will be introducing The Yard. A similar venue as The Chute but at the LSU Baseball complex.

For $20, you get entry and two beverages, and if you want to purchase additional beverages, you can do so for about $6 a beer.

Those are the words of Senior Associate Athletic Director Robert Munson. Munson made his comments to the Louisiana Radio Network.

The fact that The Yard is technically not connected to the stadium and the restricted entry keep LSU in compliance with Southeastern Conference guidelines concerning alcohol sales at sporting events.

Fans also won't have to worry about missing any of the on-field action while enjoying a beverage or two because The Yard will feature multiple televisions plus some climate comfort enhancements for when the weather is too cold or too hot.

The Yard will open at Alex Box Stadium when LSU opens their baseball season Friday at 7 PM against the University of Louisiana at Monroe.
