Former LSU star Ben Simmons, the top pick in the 2016 NBA Draft by the Philadelphia 76ers, may have to wait awhile before he makes his long-awaited NBA debut.

The 20-year old Simmons, who had surgery to repair a fractured right foot in October, may not play in his first NBA game until next season.

A native of Melbourne, Australia, Simmons averaged 19.2 points, to go along with 11.8 rebounds and 4.8 assists in his lone college season at LSU last year.

The Sixers have had one of the top three picks in each of the last three drafts, and are currently tied for the fourth-fewest wins in the league.

To make matters even worse, Philadelphia is currently without the services of star center Joel Embiid, who is recovering from a torn meniscus.

The 6-foot-10, 240-pound Simmons averaged 12.3 points, to go along with 7.8 RPG, and 5.5 assists in the NBA Summer League play.
