Berwick Man Facing Numerous Charges After Hostage Situation In Abbeville

28-year-old Dean Beranek of Berwick is accused of holding the victims hostage with a pipe and a torch on Thursday.

According to our news partners at KATC, Beranek broke into a home near the corner of Third and Jefferson Streets, allegedly demanding to harm the victims if their friend did not give him back money and a car that was supposedly taken from him.

Beranek is being held in the Vermilion Parish Jail without bond on two counts of armed robbery and three counts each of false imprisonment with a dangerous weapon and aggravated assault.
