BESE Passes New Teacher Evaluation System

The state Board of Elementary & Secondary Education unanimously approves the new teacher evaluation system. The plan factors student performance into teachers' annual reviews. 50% of teacher reviews will be based on their students' standardized test grades. For teachers who don't teach those subjects, a pilot program is running to factor in other student performance indicators. The new teacher review system is set to to be put in place next school year.
