Good news for Barksdale Air Force Base today. Bids have been opened for the I-20 connection to the Northeast side of the base.

The interchange will be built as an extension of I-220 where it meets I-20.  It's expected to take between 2 and 1/2 and 3 years to complete.

James Construction Group, LLC. was identified as the successful proposer with an apparent low bid amount of $71,818,850.00 and a proposed time of 912 calendar days during which to complete the project.

“This is more than a new piece of infrastructure for Louisiana. This new gate into Barksdale Air Force Base helps solidify its position as an integral military installation, not only for Northwest Louisiana, but also for the rest of the nation,” said Gov. John Bel Edwards. “I couldn’t be more proud to deliver this project decades after it was first envisioned. It is, without a doubt, growing the path to secure Louisiana’s role in our nation’s cyber-security efforts.”

The City of Bossier, Bossier Parish, and the local Metropolitan Planning Organization have all made funding commitments, and public support has been issued by local economic development groups in the region.
