It was an idea which already gained overwhelming support in the La. House, and so far the La. Senate is liking the idea as well.

Metairie Rep. Joe Lopinto's bill, co-authored by Bossier City Rep. Jeff Thompson, would allow concealed carry permit holders to bring their gun into certain restaurants that sell alcohol. These certain restaurants, like Applebee's, make their money primarily from food, not alcohol.

Thompson says while some people are concerned about the possibility of guns and alcohol mixing, he points out that people who have CCP's are some of the most law abiding citizens in the state.

The bill passed the La. House by an 80-19 vote and has now passed the La. Senate Judiciary Committee, heading to the La. Senate floor.
