A bill inspired by a death row inmate's artwork has passed a Senate committee. Rep. Yvonne Dorsey-Colomb's legislation would ban death row inmates from selling items produced by them.

A few months ago, several pieces of convicted serial killer Derrick Todd Lee's artwork was sold on a website called "Murderabilia." She says the bill would put an end to this.

It provides that they do not receive any funds from the notoriety of the crime that they committed.

The bill now heads to the full Louisiana Senate for debate.
