Man Making Biodiesel Dumps Pollutants In Plaquemine Parish

The Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality discovered a man in Iberville who was making biodiesel at his home, and dumping pollutants into a canal.
The DEQ says that Tommy Francise pleaded guilty to dumping wastes, glycerin and grease in April of 2010 into the canal. The investigators say that they found cooking oil in the canal and traced it back to his home.
He was ordered by a state judge to pay a fine of $2,500 and $2,700 to cover the costs of the DEQ’s investigations. He was also sentenced to three years of probation and ordered to clean his property as well.
