Kevin Blanchard, current Director of the Public Works Department at Lafayette Consolidated Government, has accepted a position as general counsel with Southern Lifestyle Development.

Blanchard served in City - Parish President Joey Durel's administration for a number of years, serving as LCG's first - ever Chief Development Officer.

Blanchard took part in the development of Lafayette's Comprehensive Plan and the newly adopted Unified Development Code. He is a member of the board of directors at One Acadiana, chair-elect of the Leadership Institute of Acadiana, and a former newspaper reporter.

Formed by the original developers of The Village of River Ranch, SLD currently has seventeen communities in various levels of development throughout Louisiana.

According to the release issued by SLD, Blanchard is looking forward to the new challenge.

'This is an incredible opportunity to be involved in the work of one of the best development firms in the Gulf South.' Blanchard will continue to be involved in the process as City-Parish President-Elect Joel Robideaux begins his transition into office and said he looks forward to the helping 'make the transition as smooth and productive as possible.'
